One of the aims of BAN is to provide a voice for the BME-led advice sector in London and to influence policy and decision-making where it affects the work of the sector, through:

  • promoting BME communities interests and needs to funders and policy makers
  • promoting the role, value and diversity of BME-led advice work across London
  • making the case and advocating for BME legal advice services in London
  • developing links and fostering a better understanding of the roles of BME-led advice-providing organisations working in London
  • assisting and influencing central and local government bodies, funders and policy makers in carrying out their functions, where they relate to the work of the London BME-led advice sector
  • identifying relevant social policy issues in order to co-ordinate joint campaigns and joint responses to consultations on behalf of BAN
  • supporting better outcomes for BME communities affected by poverty and disadvantage
  • improving understanding of wider policy issues and their impact on BME communities
